In 2024, as AI transformed from a niche skill to a global priority, educators took bold steps to integrate it into their classrooms. The shift wasn’t just about mastering tools; it was about embracing a mindset of continuous learning, innovation, and adaptability. That’s why I created the AI Literacy Progress Tracker—to help teachers reflect on their AI journey, celebrate their achievements, and plan for an an AI-driven future in education. A worksheet that you can download (or make a copy to fill online) and fill it out at your own pace, reflect privately, or share insights with colleagues during a professional development session. The goal is to celebrate your efforts and pave the way for an even more impactful 2025.
But as I worked on the worksheet, I couldn’t help but shake my head at the irony of a static document to track AI Literacy! Not to mention that a document, no matter how thoughtfully designed, can only go so far. Teachers need a tool that can actively guide their reflection process, spark new ideas, and adapt to their unique contexts.
So I didn’t stop there.
Acknowledging the need for personalisation and an AI-driven flow, I’ve gone one step further: introducing a GPT-powered version of the tracker.
Why Create the Tracker?
The original idea behind the tracker was simple:
- 🎯 Reflection: To provide educators with an easy (and AI-driven) way to pause and evaluate their AI literacy journey.
- 🎉 Celebration: To recognise the milestones you’ve achieved in a transformative year for education.
- 🚀 Planning: To help you identify areas for growth and set actionable goals for 2025.
Why a GPT-Powered Tracker?
AI literacy isn’t one-size-fits-all—it’s a deeply personal journey shaped by an educator’s subject area, teaching style, and classroom needs. That’s where the power of GPT comes in:
- Dynamic Guidance: The GPT version acts as your personal assistant, asking reflective questions, suggesting ideas, and helping you dive deeper into your experiences.
- Customisation: Whether you’re a language teacher exploring AI-assisted translation or a STEM educator experimenting with AI simulations, the GPT tailors prompts to your specific needs.
- Ease of Use: Accessible, intuitive, and interactive, the GPT eliminates the overwhelm of reflection and planning.
How It Works
The GPT-powered tracker is designed to work like a conversation:
- 🤔 Start by sharing your AI experiences—what you’ve accomplished, learned, and struggled with.
- 🌟 The GPT responds with further questions to help you articulate insights, brainstorm goals, or identify next steps.
- 📈 Use its suggestions to reflect on your AI Literacy journey in 2024 and share your progress with your network.
What’s Next?
My goal with the GPT-powered tracker is to make AI literacy an engaging and evolving journey for every teacher. This isn’t meant to be just a tool. I would like it to be a partner in your professional growth—one that evolves with you as you navigate the ever-changing landscape of education.
