New Year’s celebrations are a perfect time for reflection and renewal, making it an ideal moment to discuss ethical and technological questions. Inspired by Matthew Wemyss’s post on Code or Chaos at Christmas post on LinkedIn, I came up with a few New Year-themed scenarios to provide a unique opportunity to develop learners’ critical thinking and speaking skills while exploring contemporary issues.

Target Audience:

Learners (B2-C1 level), adults or teenagers, interested in ethical debates and new technologies.

Objectives:

  • Develop oral expression and argumentation skills.
  • Enrich vocabulary related to celebrations, ethics, and technological innovation.
  • Encourage critical reflection on the social impacts of artificial intelligence.

These scenarios not only allow learners to practice their language skills but also help them reflect on the ethical challenges of our time in a fun and festive atmosphere. Enjoy the discussion, and Happy New Year to all! 🎆✨
